The UC Davis Health System, Department of Neurosurgery, seeks men and women with Parkinson’s disease who are candidates for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) treatment for research study. Study participants must be planning DBS as part of their treatment, but must not yet have obtained this procedure.

The purpose of the study is to determine whether low frequency DBS will improve cognitive dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease. The study involves computerized cognitive tests before and after surgery and at 2 different stimulation frequencies. There are 3 study visits and one telephone call. Each visit lasts between 45 min and 2 hours.  Compensation includes $10 per study visit.
